Care Knowledge of Flat-Coated Retriever
No matter what climate environment, the flat-coated retriever's coat can provide very good protection, but their coat does not require much trimming. If the ornamental hair is not very long, only regular daily care is needed. Also, their bathing does not need to be too frequent, and the number of baths changes with different seasons.
In sudden weather changes, bathing them should be avoided. Dogs are different from humans; they naturally shed and grow hair to adapt to the environment. In summer, when encountering rainy weather or high humidity, it is even more unsuitable to bathe the dog. Because after bathing, their pores open, reducing the oils on their coat, which cannot recover immediately. This means they lose a layer of natural protection, making it easy to cause various diseases.
Bathing is best done in the morning or at noon. After bathing, immediately dry their body with a towel, then use a hairdryer to dry the skin and coat. Never let them dry naturally by themselves.
