Can Pregnant Dogs Take a Bath

Dog Bathing
Many owners are frustrated because they need to carefully care for pregnant dogs, but dogs do get dirty. Can pregnant dogs take a bath? This is probably the most confusing question for owners.
There are three answers to this question:
1.They can take a bath; it’s not a big problem. However, when bathing a pregnant dog, be gentle, especially around the belly to avoid discomfort. Also, make sure to dry the dog promptly and prevent catching a cold.
2.They should not be bathed; it’s very risky. During pregnancy, bathing may cause water to enter the vagina, leading to inflammation and infection, which can cause miscarriage. If the dog is very dirty, dry shampoo can be used instead for cleaning.
3.Bathing is possible, but it should be timed. For example, do not bathe the dog in the first few days after mating. After about 20 days, when the fetus is stable, normal bathing can be done; also, from one week before the due date to two weeks after delivery, to avoid miscarriage and infection, try not to bathe.
All these statements seem reasonable, so which should we believe? In fact, whether to bathe a pregnant dog depends on the dog’s constitution. For example, first-time pregnant dogs, dogs that have had miscarriages, or malnourished dogs should generally not be bathed. But if the dog is in good condition, we can choose an appropriate time to bathe her.
