Can Different Breeds of Dogs Live Together
Welsh Springer Spaniel (detailed introduction)
Can different breeds of dogs live together? Although there are many dog breeds, most dogs have very similar living habits. So generally, as long as both dogs are cheerful and gentle and their territorial sense is not too strong, they can get along very well together.
Dogs are very intelligent creatures; they always find their own ways to survive in this world. They try to avoid direct conflicts and do their best to do so. Take the Dachshund as an example: when it grows up, it knows that holding its tail high doesn’t necessarily mean dominance. Their legs are short, and if they drag their tails like other dogs, their tails would sweep the ground, which is uncomfortable for them. When they meet other breeds, they find that other dogs may not think the same way. Perhaps this is where problems begin.
This does not mean that different breeds of dogs cannot play together; owners need to give them some time to dispel their inner doubts. Dogs understand well the meaning of “being careful can lead to friendship,” so patience is essential during walks.
Because different breeds of dogs transmit information differently, confusion is inevitable when they communicate. Therefore, owners can let their dogs interact and get familiar with other dogs from a young age. Attending dog classes and social circles are good ways. In dog classes, dogs learn to get along peacefully and adapt to various breeds. However, owners must remember this is not achieved overnight and should not rush but give dogs enough time.
Although different breeds may express themselves differently, if given time to coexist and understand each other, they can become good friends. Of course, it’s best if both dogs do not have overly aggressive temperaments, as that can easily cause conflicts. So, different breeds of dogs can indeed live together.
