A Few Comparisons Between Royal Canin Dog Food and Pro Plan Dog Food
Royal Canin dog food and Pro Plan dog food are two of the more popular choices for raising Golden Retrievers. So, what are their differences?

Golden Retriever (Detailed Introduction)
Advantages and disadvantages comparison:
Royal A3 is a good dog food with high fat content, but its downside is that it is oily and prone to obesity. Pro Plan puppy food is also good, with relatively higher calcium, but insufficient fat.
The recommendation is to mix the two dog foods together, half and half. Generally, Golden Retrievers under six months old can be fed this way, so the puppies won’t lack fat or calcium. Around eight months old, they can usually switch to Royal Canin large breed puppy food.
Comparatively, Royal large breed puppy food costs the most, but personally, it seems better for the dog, whether in coat color or body shape. Royal large breed puppy food is quite good, and there’s no need for anything better.
Price comparison: Royal AGR30, 30 jin (approx. 15 kg), about 380 yuan.
Pro Plan large puppy food is roughly the same price for 30 jin and lasts about one month. If you choose Royal Canin, I personally recommend the large puppy and medium puppy formulas. These dog foods are very good with balanced nutrition. Feed three times a day, on a fixed schedule. Large puppy food costs 15 yuan per jin; medium puppy food shouldn’t exceed 20 yuan per jin. For specific prices, you can inquire at some pet shops.
Taste and feces comparison: Personally, Royal Canin dog food tastes slightly better because it is very fragrant and dogs love it. But Pro Plan has its advantages; generally, dogs’ feces are drier and easier to clean! (Though some consider this a disadvantage)
ps: If besides dog food, you want to enhance your Golden Retriever’s nutrition, you can prepare a little extra meal: such as boiled shrimp—cut the sharp parts of the shrimp head off; shrimp provides calcium and trace elements and works well. Sometimes, mix bone broth with some baby high-calcium rice cereal, add some shrimp meat and minced meat (eat some mutton appropriately in winter), which also works very well.
