Will a Cat's Personality Change After Neutering?
Among many cat owners, some support neutering their cats, while others do not. Cat neutering surgery is a surgical procedure that removes the ovaries and uterus in females or the testicles in males, making them unable to reproduce. There are pros and cons to neutering cats, but some owners wonder whether a cat's personality will change after the surgery.
Normally, male cats can recover on the same day after surgery, while female cats need about 2-3 days to recover. Once healed, cats can live normally as before. However, cats will no longer experience mating-related behaviors. Of course, a neutered cat's living habits and personality will also undergo some changes.
Previously, when cats were in heat, their personalities would become restless and easily disturbed. During heat, they would often "call" loudly and urinate indiscriminately. After neutering, these troublesome behaviors during heat will disappear, and cats will become carefree and happy again. Their personality tends to become calmer, with much less anxious and restless emotion. Neutered cats no longer have desires, so their personality stabilizes significantly.
There will be some personality changes after a cat is neutered. Additionally, because cats lose the desire and ability to mate, many neutered cats tend to eat more and gain weight easily. If your cat has also been neutered, you should pay extra attention to its diet after surgery to prevent it from becoming too overweight.
