Why Training Cats Is Full of Difficulties
Ragdoll Cat
Everyone knows, are not like that can undergo strict obedience training. Cats are naturally aloof, clever, and practical. Historically, the ancestors of cats lived a lone-wolf lifestyle for a long time and knew well how to protect themselves. Moreover, cats have strong pride, making it difficult to demand their obedience to human will.
Usually, cats only agree to be controlled by humans when they find it beneficial. For example, when they are hungry or feel cold, they will ask people and obey certain commands.
But you should understand that many times, when a cat lies in its owner’s arms, it is voluntary behavior, not obeying orders. When it rubs its head and body against the owner and makes soft meowing sounds, it is only because it is hungry, wants to eat, or has some demands that people may not understand.
Of course, it’s not that cats cannot be trained at all. Cats are very smart and can learn many actions and behaviors. If training starts from when a kitten is around five to six months old, some effects can still be achieved.
For example, it is possible to to open doors, stretch paws, roll over, fetch items, and eliminate in designated spots. Kittens during this period are more dependent and more malleable, so training must be accelerated to form habits. Otherwise, when a cat matures at one year old, its personality strengthens and it will no longer be willing to comply with human training. (Source:PetsZone)
