What type of appearance should Persian cats be bred for

Persian cat
When you are looking for a pair of Persian cats for breeding, be sure to choose based on quality and lineage. Some crossbreeds of lineage may produce sick cats or cats with genetic defects. Responsible and reputable breeders understand the genetic issues behind a lineage. Without this knowledge, you may inadvertently create serious problems, which might only be discovered years later.
As breeders, our goal should be to breed cats with the best appearance and health by eliminating rather than adding defects. To improve appearance, you need to use the best male cats as much as possible. The male's lineage should be the best, and its quality should be excellent. You can mate such a male with a slightly inferior female to improve appearance. However, if you use a male of slightly lower quality, it will be more difficult to improve the appearance.
When selecting a pair of cats for breeding, you need to use the advantages of the male to improve the female. If the female has a defect in some aspect, make sure the male is better in that aspect. Remember that the nose break (the place where the nose meets the forehead) is the easiest part to improve in Persian cats, while ear placement is the most difficult to improve. The best ear placement requires ears positioned on both sides of the round head, with ears tilting forward (neither upturned nor flared out).
