What to Do When Cats and Dogs Have Chocolate Poisoning?
Russian Blue Cat
Cat and dog owners like to feed some human foods to amuse their pets. Especially in families with children, they often give their pets some chocolates or ice cream they are eating. They do not realize this harms them, because the theobromine and caffeine in chocolate foods are toxic to pets. If cats and dogs eat about 1.3 mg of baking chocolate or 13 mg of milk chocolate per kilogram of body weight, poisoning may occur. Symptoms of pet poisoning mainly include vomiting, increased urination, hyperactivity, tremors, rapid breathing, weakness, and seizures, sometimes even death. Therefore, it is strictly forbidden to feed cats and dogs food containing chocolate, and children should be taught not to give food to cats and dogs casually. When cats and dogs accidentally eat chocolate and show poisoning symptoms, they should be taken to a pet hospital immediately for treatment and must not delay. (Source:PetsZone)
