What to Do If Cats Like to Bite Their Owner's Fingers?
Tabby Cat
Many cats like to bite things when they are young. Owners find it amusing and use their fingers to tease them, thinking biting fingers doesn’t hurt and is fun. Over time, problems arise. As the cat grows, it may like biting fingers even more. Why is this? What should we do?
In fact, there is a kind of competition in the cat’s world. Although cats are cute, they are carnivores by nature. From birth, before even opening their eyes, competition already begins as they instinctively fight for the nipples with the most milk. Survival of the fittest ensures that only the strongest and healthiest kittens survive in nature.
When kittens grow to two months and leave their mother, they regard human fingers or toes as their playmates. Being lively, mischievous, and curious are kitten traits. Sometimes they like to hold and nibble on human fingers—partly playing and partly teething. The feeling of a kitten’s small teeth biting on the hand is quite fun and not painful. Therefore, owners often do not discipline this behavior, which in a way encourages the habit of biting people.
