Kittens scratching and biting at home when they are young is actually similar to puppies; they both have a teething period. At this time, it is crucial to train the kittens well, helping them develop good habits from an early age. Otherwise, one day when you come home and find scratch marks on your genuine leather sofa, you'll only feel heartache.

  1. Buy some toys for the cat

Such as carpet scratchers, hanging small balls, moving toy mice, and the like. Let the cat play with toys until it is tired; naturally, it won't have the energy to scratch you for fun.

  2. Repeatedly take it to special claw sharpening places

You need to prepare special claw sharpening tools. Although there are many types sold on the market, making your own is quite good too. Simply wrap strips of cloth around a wooden board. If possible, prepare several pieces and place them where the cat likes to go. If the cat starts to scratch the furniture, immediately say "No" and take it to the place with the special wooden board. The owner can hold its front paws to make it scratch. At first, the cat might make noise, but after a few times, it will patiently scratch the board. When it becomes very skilled at scratching the board, praise it, and in this way, the cat will naturally remember the scratching place.

  3. Help the cat trim its nails

Basically, almost all cats dislike having their nails cut, and this is not due to pain. So before trimming the cat's nails, it is best to choose a comfortable place, put the cat on your legs or knees, gently stroke its paws, then press out the nails and cut them off.

  4. Use the method of spraying a repellent

Sometimes, if you can't wait, you can spray repellent or sprinkle vinegar—something cats dislike—on places you don't want it to scratch. But this method only works temporarily; once the smell fades, the effect disappears. Therefore, patient education is still the most important.

For kittens, when they reach a certain period, they will change teeth and naturally need something to chew on. If the nails grow long and you don't trim them, of course they will rebel at home! As long as you follow the above points, most cats will be very well-behaved. (Source:PetsZone)
