What to Do If a Kitten Has Fleas, Three Tricks to Completely Eliminate Fleas
Fleas are parasites living in the hair of animals. I remember when I was young, many cats and dogs in rural homes had fleas. Back then, the conditions and people's awareness of pet care were not as refined as they are now. Pets used to roam all over the village, and their owners rarely bathed them, so pets in the village often had fleas. Even now, sometimes owners may not have enough time to take care of their pets, or the weather might be too hot, making it hard to prevent fleas, so pets may still get fleas. Today, the pet shelter editor is here to solve a problem for everyone: what to do if a cat has fleas.
Method One: Hand Picking
The oldest and most straightforward way is to pinch them by hand. If the owner has time, this manual method of catching fleas can be used. Search against the direction of the cat's fur, most fleas hide around the cat's neck. Looking against the fur, you can see the fleas or their feces. Catch the flea and kill it with your nails. This method is quite time-consuming and cannot guarantee complete flea removal.
Method Two: Comb
A comb is something similar to a wooden comb with very fine and dense teeth. Combing along the cat’s fur can roughly remove some fleas. This method is like spreading a net everywhere, removing as many as possible. It also cannot guarantee complete cleanliness, and some fleas may still escape. However, compared to hand picking, this method is slightly better.
Method Three: Spray
The most direct and effective method is to use a relevant spray to kill all the fleas in one step. First, bathe the cat. While its fur is wet, spray the treatment on it, then wrap the cat’s body completely with a plastic bag to prevent fleas from jumping out and prevent the cat from licking its fur to avoid poisoning. After wrapping for ten to twenty minutes, remove the plastic bag and rinse the cat thoroughly. Many flea corpses may appear floating in the basin. This cleaning process might need to be repeated several times to completely clean the cat. This method can quite thoroughly remove fleas and is an effective one-step solution.
Fleas on pets not only make them feel uncomfortable all over but can also cause fleas to spread throughout the home, seriously affecting normal life. Therefore, there should be no negligence in flea prevention. Prevention seems even more important.
