Two Training Methods to Make Cats Obedient
Persian Cat
1. Start Training from Kittenhood, Correct Mistakes Immediately
must be educated immediately at the scene of the mistake. Since most cat owners have to go to work, this may be difficult, raising the challenge of correcting bad behaviors.
Training should begin during the cat's early stages of life. It is very difficult to correct a bad habit in an adult cat, while preventing problems from the start is easier. However, with persistence, any cat can learn some simple behavioral rules.
It's best to start training within a few days after bringing your cat home. Keep a water spray bottle or a noise maker (you can put some coins inside an aluminum can) handy during training. Whenever the cat climbs on chairs or scratches furniture, spray it with water or shake the noise maker beside it. If you cannot supervise the cat, restrict its activity area before leaving home. Do not punish the cat physically, as corporal punishment will only cause the cat to fear its owner and lose trust.
2. Create a Suitable Environment, Train Happily
Do not leave tasty food or items that attract the cat's curiosity on tables or chairs where the cat can find them. This encourages the cat to climb. If the floor is dirty or there are scary objects or animals, cats have no choice but to stay on the furniture.
Please prepare a scratching post for your cat. The scratching post can be wrapped with a relatively rough blanket or be a bare wooden stick, depending on the cat’s preference.
You can also set up a sunny spot on the windowsill or another high place for the cat to bask and watch the scenery. A cat’s greatest pleasure is sitting in the sunlight, safely observing the outside world.
When you are not home, you can take auxiliary measures to help the cat consolidate good behavior. For example, wrap previously scratched parts of furniture with plastic bags or aluminum foil as a warning sign. You can also place the noise maker randomly on a chair so if the cat jumps up, it falls and makes a sound. When this happens, the owner should strengthen training after returning home.
Good behavior by the cat must also be praised. If the cat uses the scratching post you prepared or sits on the designated windowsill, reward it immediately with treats and say words of praise.
The key to training is to make the cat feel happy while establishing good behavior. If the above methods do not work, reconsider whether you have provided a living environment符合它心意和本性的生活环境, and adjust it accordingly with targeted changes.
