Reasons why cats don’t eat after giving birth:
1. Giving birth consumes a large amount of energy and causes significant changes in the cat’s body. Normally, cats may refuse to eat for a few days; caretakers should provide fresh drinking water and feed nutritious milk. If the cat refuses to eat for a long time after giving birth, the caretaker should promptly take the cat to the hospital for treatment.
2. Cats’ emotions are generally tense after giving birth. Especially when kittens’ eyes are still closed, a nervous cat will not eat peacefully.
3. If cats do not have a quiet environment to rest after giving birth, noisy surroundings can cause emotional tension, leading to refusal to eat.
After birth, cats’ diet should be easy to digest and highly nutritious. When cats refuse to eat, caretakers can prepare richer and tastier food to increase the cat’s appetite.
