Three Methods to Prevent Stray Cats from Crawling Under Cars
Scottish Fold Cat
Method One: Install a protective panel to block their path.
Since stray cats mostly crawl into the engine compartment through gaps under the car chassis, you can try to install a protective panel in this area. However, Yuan Xueguan, technical manager at Little Thumb Auto Repair Company, believes this method is not completely effective because most engine protective panels are not fully sealed, and small animals might still enter through gaps beneath the panel.
Method Two: Move your beloved car to a different place.
Because cats are attached to fixed locations, once they identify a place as a shelter, they will frequent it often. Zhu Shuilin suggests that if a car is parked in the same spot for a long time and often targeted by kittens, it’s better to move it around regularly. If the owner plans to be away for several days, it’s best to move the car into an indoor garage rather than parking outside.
Method Three: Place cut lemons at entrances.
That is, buy fresh lemons from the supermarket, cut open a slice to let the fragrance release; then find a breathable mesh bag and fix the lemon at the entry point where kittens access the car. Theoretically, this method should have some effect. Zhu Shuilin says for cats, the scent of lemon is very pungent, and when they smell it, they tend to go around. Similar effects can be achieved with medicated oil or floral water. (Source:PetsZone)
