The Discipline of Cats Using the Toilet
Training cats to use the toilet is relatively easy
No matter how cute a cat is, if it urinates or defecates casually on the sofa or clothes, its cuteness will be greatly diminished. This is a great misfortune for the cat. If a cat is well-trained to use the toilet, the home will be very clean. Cats naturally like cleanliness and are pets easy to train to use the toilet. Although some cats might occasionally soil places at will, causing trouble for their owners, this is mainly due to improper training by the owner.
Repeatedly taking the cat to the toilet
From the first day the cat enters the home, it should be trained to use the toilet. The earlier the training, the better the results. Set up a cat toilet in accessible places such as hallways or balconies where the cat can freely go in and out. Cats not yet accustomed to a new home often become restless when they have the urge to defecate; this is a good time to train them to use the toilet.
Carry the cat to the prepared toilet. At first, it may be confused and try to climb out—this is common—but you should gently say to it, "The toilet is here." Then repeat a few times by placing sand or tissues with the cat's own scent into the toilet so the cat feels comfortable when smelling its own odor. After the cat successfully relieves itself, don’t forget to praise it well with a “Good job.” Repeating this training will be very effective; some cats even specifically return from outside to use the toilet.
