Techniques to Train Cats Not to Eat Dead Mice
In general, only eat live mice they catch and do not eat dead mice. If you see a cat bringing back a dead mouse, you should immediately take it away. If the cat wants to eat the dead mouse, gently tap its mouth with a wooden stick.
A few hours later, place the dead mouse near the cat's mouth again. If the cat tries to eat it, tap its mouth again and sternly scold it. After several training sessions, the cat will develop a conditioned reflex to avoid eating dead mice to avoid punishment.
Dead mice are usually poisoned, and cats can suffer secondary poisoning after eating them.
In addition, dead mice often rot or carry bacteria, and cats eating them can easily get sick or die from poisoning. To prevent cats from being poisoned by eating dead mice, do not let cats roam freely. Feed them regularly and train them not to eat dead mice.
