Supplementing Enough Nutrition for Pregnant Mother Cats
Local Cat
Two weeks after the cat completes mating, the mother cat’s nipples begin to enlarge and harden, and their color also turns pink. Another 56 days later, her kittens will be born. A few weeks into the pregnancy, the mother cat’s belly starts to grow, and she becomes unwilling to be held. Don’t misunderstand—she is protecting the babies inside her belly.
Nutrition must be strengthened after the cat becomes pregnant. First, cat food should be changed to one specially formulated for nursing and pregnant cats. Give her a dish of milk daily to increase calcium intake, or buy calcium tablets and crush nutritional supplements to mix with the cat food. I buy nutritional paste and feed her about 2cm each time. She loves to eat it. Second, add some vegetables stewed with meat to supplement nutrition. Because the babies inside are growing rapidly, the mother cat needs to consume more food than usual. Her appetite seems to increase, so increase feeding amount by about one-third more than usual, of course mainly depending on the cat’s own condition.
Here is an introduction to a homemade nutritious food that cats love: half a jin (about 250g) of lean minced meat plus one egg, mixed evenly with a little salt and small dried shrimp (Note: soak the dried shrimp in hot water for 20 minutes, rinse thoroughly to remove salt). Steam the mixture until cooked, then cool to room temperature and mix into the cat food. Store the rest in the refrigerator and warm it in the microwave before feeding next time. It can feed 3–5 meals. Of course, perhaps you have better recipes to make delicious food for your cat; feel free to share them for everyone’s reference. (Source:PetsZone)
