Stopping Ragdoll Cat's Abnormal Predatory Behavior
Ragdoll Cat
Generally, Ragdoll cats mainly prey on mice and rats. In addition, they also hunt grasshoppers, houseflies, lizards, birds, snakes, squirrels, gophers, field mice, rabbits, and more.
Abnormal predatory behavior in Ragdoll cats mainly manifests as catching free-range chickens from their owners or neighbors, bringing dead chickens or dead mice back home, chasing pet rabbits, or catching caged chickens or birds. The following methods can be used to stop this behavior:
(1) Tie a bell on the cat’s neck. When the cat chases chickens or rabbits, the sound of the bell will alert the chickens or rabbits, reducing losses. In addition, the bell sound can also remind the owner to timely stop the cat’s abnormal predatory behavior.
(2) Place mouse traps upside down around chicken or rabbit cages. The sound produced when the cat touches the traps upon approaching the cage will scare the cat away. After 3 to 5 times, the cat’s abnormal predatory behavior can be stopped.
(3) When the cat approaches the chickens or rabbits, spray water at the cat with a water gun: after 8 to 10 times, the cat’s abnormal predatory behavior can be cured.
(4) Apply deodorant near the nostrils of the sick cat once a day for three consecutive days. Then spray the same deodorant on the chicken or rabbit cages. Since cats develop an aversion to the deodorant, they will no longer approach the deodorant-coated cages. After a period of time, even if the cages are no longer coated with deodorant, the cat will still avoid approaching the cages. (Source:PetsZone)
