Should Cats Be Dewormed Regularly?
Siamese
Cats should be dewormed regularly. Deworming can begin at 6 weeks after birth. Cats under one year old should be dewormed every 3–4 months, while cats over one year can be dewormed every six months. Mother cats and newborn kittens should be dewormed simultaneously.
For roundworms: Fenbendazole. 15-20 mg per kilogram of body weight. Once daily for two consecutive days to preliminarily kill adult worms, then again on the 7th and 14th days to completely eliminate eggs and larvae.
For tapeworms: Praziquantel. 15-20 mg per kilogram of body weight. Once daily for two consecutive days to preliminarily kill adult worms, then again on the 7th and 14th days to completely eliminate eggs and larvae.
Note: Do not administer the two medicines simultaneously; finish one before taking the other.
Do not casually give cats human deworming medicine because deworming drugs can be toxic and must be dosed according to body weight. Human medication dosages are difficult to control. (Source:PetsZone)
