Cultivating the habit of cats loving baths from a young age

Burmese Cat

When first raising a cat, the cat may have many bad habits, such as urinating and defecating anywhere, irregular eating habits, poor hygiene, etc. These bad habits may also cause some illnesses, so the owner needs to carry out home training for the cat. Home training can help the cat integrate into the family quickly and prevent it from becoming a burden to the household, which is very necessary.

We often intentionally or unintentionally train cats to eat; many cats will stand upright to receive food. Or when eating with people, they will obediently sit on the chair and so on. This is not a good sign. Soon, the owner will start to worry because the kitten will keep asking for food, refuse to eat its own cat food, become increasingly picky, and even ignore all the guests, behaving like an undisciplined stray cat, jumping onto the dining table to find what it likes to eat, making a mess in no time, which causes embarrassment for the owner. Therefore, the rules for eating must be taught early: fixed time, fixed place, and fixed quantity. Never feed it human food; cats must eat food specially designed and made for them, as human food is not completely suitable for their nutrition and growth. Kittens aged three weeks to five months are almost always playing when awake, and this is when they are most cute and interesting. Whether accompanying them to play or just watching them play is fine. After five months old, their playfulness decreases but they still like to play often. Children's toys, such as building block games like LEGO, may not be suitable for them; some are too small, some have sharp edges, and some can be chewed into pieces, which if swallowed accidentally, will cause trouble.

Regarding urination and defecation training, cat excrement has an unpleasant smell, and wild cats often cover it with soil after defecating. Some cat owners choose sand or cat litter; cat litter is better than sand in terms of cleanliness and parasite prevention. Cats love cleanliness, and if properly trained from a young age, they will develop the good habit of going to the bathroom in a fixed place.

We can also try to let the cat understand its own name. When it is excited, frequently calling its name can help it remember its name easily; for example, when petting it, playing with it, or before feeding, are all good opportunities.

We can also implement a reward system for cats. For example, at the beginning, whenever the cat completes a simple action, it can be rewarded. As the training actions upgrade, the threshold for rewards should also be raised, and when it completes some complex actions, an appropriate reward should be given. This way, the reward effect can be fully utilized. Rewards include verbal praise, petting the head or back, giving treats, etc.

Proper training can make your cat more lovable and also protect the health of both the cat and ourselves. Of course, training methods should be paid attention to and should not be too rushed. (Source:PetsZone)
