Precautions After Neutering Male Cats, Mainly This Stage
Nowadays, many people around us keep a small pet. Cats are gentle and clean, and are welcomed by many. Owners, considering the health of their cats and to avoid unnecessary troubles in raising cats later, mostly choose to neuter their male cats. Although this is not a major surgery, the cats after surgery are very weak both mentally and physically. We must carefully take care of them during this period, which greatly affects their future health.
The cat’s body is quite fragile after surgery, so we should try to provide a comfortable living environment. However, do not make too many drastic changes in the end. Otherwise, if the cat cannot adapt well, it might fall ill, which is very unfavorable to the cat's health. Prepare a soft and slightly larger cat bed for the cat, which allows it to lie down and rest comfortably. At this time, the cat may not be able to control its posture well, and we need to help it maintain a relatively comfortable position so it can rest well.
Additionally, absolutely avoid having high places that require the cat to jump, as it might pull or injure the wound and affect healing. Also, do not give water immediately after the surgery; feeding water three hours later is best. Male cats after surgery may experience a poor appetite, which is normal; you can use some food the cat usually likes to entice it. If the cat still does not eat, do not force it, but place the food beside the cat’s bed. If the cat does not drink water, use a small straw to gently drop a little water into the cat’s mouth, preventing its mouth from drying out.
Cats after surgery often keep their eyes wide open; you should prepare some eye drops to administer, which can greatly relieve fatigue, moisturize the eyeballs, prevent dryness, and reduce damage to the eyes. In summary, cats are in a weak state during this time, and all aspects of their daily life require our extra attention.
