Methods to Train Cats' Daily Schedule
Russian Blue Cat
Cats are naturally nocturnal animals. During the day, they usually stay in one place and sleep all day, while at night they walk around, explore, and patrol their territory. However, living with humans, a cat’s nocturnal activity can affect the owner’s rest, so training cats to have the same daily schedule as their owners is very important.
Cats’ nature is to be active at night and rest during the day, so changing this habit is not easy. Nevertheless, not changing this habit will impact the family’s life to some extent. Therefore, after bringing a cat home, you should specifically train it to accept a new lifestyle. (Even if you cannot completely change it, you should try to help the cat adapt so that the family and cat can live harmoniously.)
To correct a cat’s nocturnal habits, training should start when the cat is young. According to the family’s living habits, allow the cat to be active during the day, play games with the cat, take the cat for walks, and prepare toys to keep it constantly playing. Helping the cat expend its energy during the day will allow it to sleep well at night. Of course, the cat should not be allowed to go outdoors at night.
Changing a cat’s nocturnal habit is not something that can be completed in a day or two. Owners should persistently train the cat, guiding it to engage in normal daily activities during the day (do not let the cat lie around sleeping excessively), so that at night the cat will naturally fall asleep due to a lack of energy. Over time, the cat will gradually form conditioned reflexes, and once the habit is formed, the cat can be active during the day and rest at night.
