　　Dogs easily accept certain commands such as lying down, standing, and rolling over, but training cats is not as simple. However, it is not impossible; with patience and proper methods, owners can easily teach their cats to lie down, stand, and roll over.

　　Lying down, standing, and rolling over are actions that can be trained in cats, but to follow human commands to perform these actions requires training. First, train lying down and standing. When the cat is standing, issue the "lie down" command and simultaneously use your hand to gently press the cat down to lie down, then issue the "stand up" command to make the cat stand up. After completing the action, reward with food and petting. Repeating this several times allows the cat to develop a conditioned reflex to the commands "lie down" and "stand up." Once the reflex to "lie down" is well established, you can begin training the roll over action. When the cat is lying on the floor, the trainer issues the "roll" command while gently assisting the cat to roll sideways. Repeatedly doing this under guidance allows the cat to roll over by itself. Every time the action is completed, reward immediately; as the cat becomes more proficient, gradually reduce the frequency of rewards until food rewards are eliminated.
