How to solve abnormal feeding in cats
Bengal Cat
Abnormal feeding behavior often involves many potential threats. Eating carelessly can easily cause cats to choke on foreign objects or accidentally ingest toxic food. Therefore, if a cat exhibits such behavior, it should be corrected promptly to avoid harming its health. Of course, to solve the problem, it is necessary to find the root cause. Only by understanding what causes the cat's abnormal feeding behavior can the problem be fundamentally resolved.
Cats’ abnormal feeding behaviors mainly include lack of appetite, pica, and anorexia. Lack of appetite: Cats refuse to eat any food and appear lethargic. Sometimes cats fast for many days, quickly losing weight, weakening, and even dying. This is mostly caused by unclean feeding locations or utensils, such as feeding cats near their feces or urine piles, litter boxes, or trash bins, or when unclean food is not promptly removed from the food bowl. An effective measure to change this behavior is to feed cats with clean utensils in a relatively clean place away from cat feces and urine piles. Secondly, respiratory diseases causing a cat’s dull sense of smell can also lead to loss of appetite. For this, treat the respiratory disease and force-feed the cat with tasty foods, such as fish or pork, by gently placing it in the cat’s mouth, stimulating the taste receptors to induce appetite.
