How to Discipline Cats After They Make Mistakes
Some owners feel pity when they see their cat's pitiful eyes after making mistakes and hesitate to scold them, but this will lead to cats acting more willfully, which over time causes inconvenience for both the owner and the cat's life!
To ensure comfortable living for both people and cats, it is necessary to have cats obey the household rules. If you master the following four points, training cats will proceed smoothly.
The first rule is to immediately scold on the spot. When they do something wrong, you should immediately loudly reprimand them with words like “No!” or “Hey!”. Of course, cats don’t stop their behavior because they understand the owner's words, but because they are startled by the loud noise. If you repeat this, cats will gradually associate this with being loudly scolded and will find it too troublesome, so they will stop doing it.
After a cat does something wrong, taking it back to the scene to lecture is completely useless; cats are forgetful animals, so even if they are scolded for what just happened, they will not understand why.
The second rule is patient education. It does not mean you scold today and allow it tomorrow; you should consistently and patiently scold at all times. If the person gives up halfway, the previous efforts will have been wasted. Thinking, “Anyway, I will forgive it soon,” only makes the cat become arrogant.
The third rule is absolutely no corporal punishment. If you hit a cat casually, it will develop fear towards the owner and become submissive. Since cats are much smaller than humans, hitting them can easily cause injuries.
The fourth rule is to praise it greatly on the spot when it behaves well. Although cats don't understand words, they clearly distinguish between scolding tones and praising tones. When praised, their mood improves, which gradually enhances the effect of the education.
