The Scottish Fold cat (ScottishFold) is a breed of cat with a genetic mutation in the ears. This cat has a fold in the cartilage part, causing the ears to bend forward and point towards the front of the head. Since this breed was first discovered in Scotland, it is named after its place of discovery and physical characteristics.

　　It enjoys human company and expresses itself in its unique peaceful manner.

　　Characteristics: The Scottish Fold cat has an especially calm temperament and is very friendly to other cats and dogs. Gentle, affectionate, loving, playful, and cherishes family life. Their voice is very soft. They are vigorous, and this breed is an excellent hunter. Grooming is very simple, requiring brushing once a week. During shedding, its long plushy coat needs frequent brushing. And special care must be given to its ears. To prevent ear cartilage deformity, two folded-ear cats cannot breed with each other. They can mate with straight-eared British Shorthair and American Shorthair cats. The folded ear trait only shows at the third to fourth week. The degree of ear folding is determined by the fifth to sixth week.

　　The climbing-like physique of the Scottish Fold cat: medium build, rounded, moderate bone structure, and solid muscles. Females are smaller than males.

　　Overview: Short, stout, plump, and rounded limbs. Weight ranges from 2.5 to 6 kilograms.

　　Head: Round with a bulging forehead. Rounded cheeks. Side profile shows a gentle curve. Male cats have more flesh, and adult males are allowed to have double chins.

　　Ears: Folded forward with wide spacing, ear tips are curved. Medium-sized ears folded forward like a hat, making the head look rounder.

　　Nose: Wide and short. Slight nose break is acceptable. The muzzle is slightly rounded. Whisker pads are round. Chin is firm.

　　Neck: The neck is not very long but muscular, with hair longer than other body parts.

　　Eyes: Large and round, color matching the coat color, spaced wide apart. The color corresponds with the coat. Short and muscular neck.

　　Mouth: Both upper and lower jaws are strong, with normal bite.

　　Body: Medium-sized, short and plump, rounded, very muscular. Moderate bone size.

　　Legs and paws: Proportional in length to body length. Medium-sized bones, length matching body, rounded and compact paws. The paw pads are round and very neat.

　　Tail: Not longer than two-thirds of body length. Base is thick, tapering gradually to a rounded tip. Very soft and flexible.

　　Coat: Two variants exist: — Short: Thick, dense, long plush texture, elastic, dense growth. — Semi-long: Coat grows backward along the body with a silky texture. This variant is also called Highland Fold cat.

　　Coat colors: All colors are accepted except chocolate, lilac, Himalayan patterns, or combinations of these colors mentioned above.

　　Personality: Approachable, gentle, intelligent.

　　Undesirable traits: Head too slender. Too obvious nose break.
