Cats Eating Raw Fish Easily Get Sick
Burmese cat
Raw fish produces an enzyme that destroys vitamin B1. A deficiency of vitamin B1 in cats can cause heart disease, intermittent shock, and convulsions. Moreover, fish heads and entrails discarded during cooking are more likely to make cats sick if they eat them.
In addition, especially fish raised in the wild or old ponds contain a parasite called Opisthorchis viverrini which is particularly dangerous. Once a cat eats raw fish infected with parasites, it can cause pathological changes in the cat's liver tissue. In the early stages of infection, cats may show loss of appetite, depression, vomiting, weight loss, sometimes accompanied by a rise in body temperature, subsequently causing jaundice and hepatitis. If not detected in time, cats may face life-threatening risks(Source:PetsZone)
