Cat Rabies Symptoms, Hair-Raising
Rabies, everyone thinks it only occurs in dogs, but sadly, cats can also get rabies. What are the symptoms when a cat gets rabies?
In fact, the symptoms of rabies in cats are very similar to those in dogs since they are the same disease.
Rabies symptoms mainly manifest in two types: one is the furious type, the other is the paralytic type.
The symptoms of rabies in cats are divided into four stages, as follows:
1. Initial Stage
In the initial stage, there are no obvious neurological changes or behavioral changes. There may be some abnormal actions, tiredness, restlessness, major changes in living habits, or the temperament may become bad. These symptoms generally last 1--2 days.
2. Middle Stage
In the middle stage, the cat becomes somewhat unconscious, wanders around, is no longer close to the owner, and makes "hissing..." sounds. Occasionally, it will howl and also bite objects everywhere.
3. Terminal Stage
At this time, the cat becomes fearful, afraid of water, light, and loud noises, drools, experiences full-body muscle spasms, and exhibits strong aggression.
4. Death Stage
In the death stage, the limbs become stiff, strong, and straight, breathing is difficult, frothing at the mouth, extremely poor mental state, respiratory suppression leads to death or death from multi-organ failure.
Rabies in cats is a terrifying thing, owners must take precautions. Once early signs are found, treatment measures must be taken immediately. It is important to vaccinate cats on time against rabies.
