Cat Estrus Behaviors, Please Pay Attention to These
Cat lovers all know that cats, like humans, go through puberty and have some physiological manifestations. However, cats reach puberty relatively early. Therefore, it is not so easy to observe when a cat is in heat. So we need to observe some behaviors of the cat, such as the signs of cat estrus. Beginners who just start keeping cats may think the cat is sick when they see the cat’s mood is bad, but actually it is not. Sometimes when the cat’s mood is not good, it is very likely that the cat is in heat. Because if a cat in heat does not get to mate, its physical discomfort will also cause psychological discomfort. Next, let’s analyze the signs of cat estrus together with me.
When a cat is in heat, it may be different from other animals. A cat in heat may lose its appetite, cling to the owner, sometimes make some sounds, and also urinate anywhere. The urine will be smellier than usual, and the cat will pose seductively and emit a musky scent, which is to attract male cats. When male cats smell the female cat’s scent and hear some calls from the cat, they will become excited. Of course, when the cat is in heat, not all female cats will accept the approach of male cats. If they encounter a male cat they dislike but who insists on getting close, the female cat will get angry and prevent him from coming too close. Also, female cats will avoid immature male cats.
Besides physical changes, the cat’s temperament will also change greatly. Female cats become irritable and restless when in heat, especially fond of going outside. Sometimes when the owner is not at home, they will sneak out secretly to find a suitable male cat for mating. Female cats in heat will also roll on the ground continuously. Male cats in heat become particularly anxious and restless; they will sneak out to compete with other males for their territory to consolidate their status, thus gaining the trust of other female cats to mate with them.
Finally, when cats are in heat, their eyes will also look different from usual. At this time, their eyes will shine and become bright. Their appetite decreases a lot, but their activity level greatly increases. The climax behavior of a cat in estrus is to squat on the ground with the hips raised high, waiting for the male cat to mate. Therefore, when cats are in heat, owners should appropriately choose mating partners for them in advance. If there is no intention to breed, sterilization surgery should be done for the cat.
