Basic Training in Cats' Daily Life
1. Let the cat adapt to the cat cage
1. Open the cage door and place it in a quiet corner, lining it with an unwashed T-shirt or shirt of the owner; your scent is the best comfort medicine for the cat.
2. Attract the cat's attention to this new thing by placing some of its favorite food in front of the cage, then let it happen naturally. Rest assured, whether out of curiosity or caution, cats are happy to contact new things.
3. After the cat feels safe eating in front of the cage, gradually move the food inside the cage. If the cat enters the cage, the owner should not disturb it or suddenly close the cage door. A timid cat that is tricked once will never step into the cage again. This training should be based on the cat’s feelings, letting the cat freely come and go from the cage. Impatient methods will discourage the confidence that the cat has just built.
2. Let the cat enter and exit through a designated door
After adapting to a new environment for a while, cats will start running around looking for things to satisfy their curiosity, and naturally, they will go outside more often. They should be encouraged to come and go through a designated door, not to climb windows arbitrarily.
1. Keep the entry/exit door fixed open and let the cat explore.
If some food is placed on the other side of the door, it may entice the cat to pass through; however, be sure to fix the door in place so it won’t fall down and scare the cat.
2. Once the cat passes through the entry/exit door, lower the flap and use some exquisite food to encourage the cat to return through the door, but this time, help it push the door open.
