4 Tips to Train Siamese Cats
Siamese
Siamese cats are a very precious cat breed, originally from Thailand, hence the name Siamese. Siamese cats are very intelligent, and many owners hope that their Siamese cats will listen to them, develop good living habits, not destroy household furniture, and get along well with other family members. To achieve this, reasonable training is required to help them master better skills.
1. Mechanical compulsory training
This training method mainly involves mechanical stimulation and threatening commands to make the cat perform the corresponding action accurately. Especially for cats receiving training for the first time, this method should be adopted. For example, when training a cat to "sit down," the owner must physically press the cat down on the ground during the first training sessions. After repeating this several times, the cat will gradually understand the correct meaning of the "sit down" command and perform the correct action.
2. Object inducement training
Inducement training mainly uses external objects, such as items or food, to lure the cat to complete certain training actions, gradually forming a conditioned reflex, and then fully mastering the trained action.
3. Reward training
Siamese cats are like humans; when they perform the correct training action, the owner can give praise and appropriate rewards. Rewards can be petting, food, and so on. Rewards reinforce the cat's memory of the trained actions, stimulate training interest, and lay the foundation for smoother training sessions next time.
4. Punishment training
The Siamese cat's temperament is very cheerful and straightforward. If during training the cat is disobedient or doesn’t cooperate and only plays for itself, the owner can apply punishment training, such as scolding, intimidation, or tapping, to warn the cat about what it should not do.
For training pet Siamese cats, regardless of the method used, the owner should maintain moderation. Especially in punishment training, appropriate punishment can motivate improvements in the cat's training attitude. Excessive punishment can cause the Siamese cat to fall into deep depression and refuse to participate in training. (Source:PetsZone)
