What to do about constipation in Poodles?
Poodle (detailed introduction)

Poodles have many common diseases. Due to improper care by owners, Poodles can suffer from constipation. Although constipation is not classified as a disease, it can seriously harm the dog’s health. So how should we treat and prevent constipation in Poodles?
First, if an adult Poodle is constipated, you can use a large dose of glycerin enema. For a Poodle puppy, a small dose of glycerin enema can be used. Slowly insert the long neck of the bottle into the Poodle’s anus and squeeze the soft bottle to inject the oily liquid into the anus. The effect is obvious as fecal balls or lumps will be expelled within moments.
Second, glycerin suppositories can be used to relieve constipation in Poodles. These are suppositories about the thickness of a little finger. After insertion into the anus, the suppository melts, releasing glycerin which lubricates the intestines, softening hardened stools for easier passage.
Third, liquid paraffin (also called paraffin oil) can be used to treat constipation in Poodles. The method is oral administration. Adults can take 15–20 ml each time; puppies take 3–5 ml, usually after dinner.
Fourth, some owners like to use rhubarb and soda tablets to treat constipation in Poodles. This medicine has both stomach-strengthening and laxative effects. Adult Poodles can take 5–6 tablets at once; puppies can take 2–4 tablets. It softens hard stools making them easier to pass.
Warm tips: If a Poodle’s constipation is very severe and the above treatments do not produce obvious effects, then I suggest you take your dog to a pet hospital for a checkup. If necessary, surgery may be required. For example, performing an enema; conducting surgery involves anesthetizing the dog, then gently using forceps to crush and remove large, hard fecal lumps blocking the anus piece by piece. Untreated chronic constipation can lead to complications such as gastrointestinal dysfunction, endocrine disorders, metabolic disorders, and more.
