What is the outlook for eel farming?
According to data reports, the domestic market demand for eels exceeds 3 million tons annually, and Japan and South Korea need to import more than 200,000 tons from China each year. In winter, the daily eel demand in places like Shanghai, Nanjing, and Hangzhou is more than 100 tons, while the total domestic eel production is less than 2 million tons, making the supply-demand contradiction obvious. Wild eel resources have already been heavily destroyed in some regions. Due to the growth of the consumer market and the reduction of natural resources, the eel market supply is becoming increasingly tight, with prices continuously climbing. According to records, by the end of 2010, the price of eels in Wuhan, Beijing, Shanghai, and other places remained between 46 - 80 yuan per kilogram, reaching up to 100 yuan. It can be seen that artificial eel farming has huge potential and yields rich profits.
