What fruits can Samoyeds eat? Control the quantity and types
Samoyeds are a very cute and lively breed. In daily life, pet owners often overlook feeding their dogs some fruit, thinking dogs do not need to eat fruit. Actually, that is not true. Dogs also need nutrients and vitamins, so they need to eat fruit. Here I will share some knowledge on what fruits Samoyeds can eat.
You can feed Samoyeds some grapefruit or tangerine. These two fruits are rich in vitamins, and their acidity can help dogs digest. But do not feed them too much, just moderate amounts.
In the hot summer, dogs easily lose water. You can feed them some watermelon, which contains plenty of water to replenish what the dog has lost. But do not feed too much, or the dog will keep going to the toilet.
You can also give dogs some apples. Everyone knows that apples contain fiber, and pectin can help dogs detox, which is good for their health. But they cannot eat too much.
When people are constipated, they eat more bananas; dogs are the same. Bananas increase intestinal peristalsis in dogs. If your dog is constipated, hasn’t had a bowel movement for several days or has very dry stools, you can feed it some bananas to improve its digestion.
Pear contains rich vitamins and also proteins. Dogs eating pears can have shiny and lustrous fur. It can also treat allergies.
Some careless owners feed dogs fruit in very large pieces, which sometimes causes choking. In such cases, seek medical attention in time. But during transport to the vet, we can also do some simple first aid. Therefore, when feeding dogs fruit, always cut it into appropriate sizes.
If a larger dog is choking, you can hold the dog’s mouth with one hand, being careful not to hurt the dog, or it will resist. Use the other hand to reach inside the dog's mouth and use your fingers to remove the bone or obstruction. Be careful that the dog does not struggle or bite you.
If it’s a smaller dog, you can use the same method as rescuing a child who is choking. Let the dog lie on your arm, and use the other hand to tap the side of the shoulder blades. Or you can mimic the rescue method used for larger dogs.
