Precautions for Feeding Canned Dog Food

Do not feed canned food frequently
Compared to dog kibble, canned dog food tastes richer, so in terms of preference, dogs favor canned food more. However, canned dog food itself is not suitable as a staple diet, so occasional feeding is acceptable, but it should not be consumed long-term.
Most canned dog foods are easy to digest and generally safe. Additionally, some canned dog foods contain abundant moisture, making them suitable for dogs experiencing heatiness or loss of appetite, and can appropriately improve dogs’ constipation issues.
Dog kibble is not without nutritional value, it just tends to be less balanced. Therefore, it does not significantly help dogs in the developmental stage, and excessive feeding is not recommended for puppies. Generally, once opened, canned dog food should be fed entirely and not reused. Unopened canned dog food should not be exposed directly to sunlight, nor stored in high temperature and high humidity places, but rather kept in a cool and dry location.
Canned dog food can be fed directly or mixed with kibble, usually to improve dogs’ refusal to eat kibble. Besides nutritional reasons, long-term feeding of kibble is not advised because it is not beneficial for dogs’ oral health. Softer textures are prone to residue in dogs’ mouths, which if not cleaned timely can cause bad breath and, in severe cases, lead to tartar buildup. Therefore, canned dog food should only be fed occasionally.
