English Bulldog (detailed introduction)

       The English Bulldog may look rather fierce in appearance, but its nature is very gentle, kind-hearted, and affectionate. It is a rare breed of watchdog, very friendly to companions, and especially gentle and kind to children.

       Generally speaking, a male English Bulldog weighs about 50 pounds, while a female weighs around 40 pounds. The eyes are positioned relatively far from the ears, and the eyes are quite round, medium-sized, neither sunken nor protruding, with a relatively dark color. When looking forward, the eyelids completely cover the whites of the eyes, and the "nictitating membrane" is entirely invisible. The ears are positioned quite high on the head, very small and thin, shaped like roses.

       The English Bulldog has a very large head, with the circumference of the head at least equal to the shoulder height. Viewed from the side, the head is quite tall. Its cheeks are very round, protruding to the sides beyond the eye area. The nose leather is large and wide, black, with the tip set back deeply between the eyes. The nostrils are wide and black with a clear midline down the center. The upper lip is thick, wide, drooping, and very deep, hanging fully on both sides of the lower jaw. When the mouth is closed, the teeth are basically not visible.

       The English Bulldog's teeth are large and robust, with a fairly wide dental spacing; the neck is short and thick, the body broad and full, the back short and sturdy. The forelimbs are muscular, and the hind limbs are slightly longer than the forelimbs. The tail is straight or shaped like a "spiral," very short and low-hanging.

       The coat is straight, short, flat, tight, with a fine texture that is smooth and glossy. The skin is soft and loose, especially evident on the head. Colors include red brindle, pure white, solid red, fawn or light brown, and pied.

       Though the English Bulldog looks fierce, it is a very gentle breed and has always been friendly and kind to people.
