Love pets, you must know how to care for and take care of them, think of pets’ needs in a pet’s way

In fact, humans are really strange animals. Our spiritual life is already very rich, and our material life lacks nothing. We often have holidays to travel abroad, often have the energy to meet with friends, often embrace with our partners to enjoy the sunset; meanwhile, our pets always silently accompany humans by their side.

There is a famous saying in the West: Lovesomebody, set him free, if you love him, give him freedom! I’m not sure if it’s right to say it here.

But from another perspective, in the past, our pets were generally mostly dogs and cats, many of which were used to perform their instinctive work in nature, namely: guarding the house and catching mice; however, with the progress of society, the types of pets have developed to include any animals you can control, with no restrictions on size, color, species, or feeding methods. Nowadays, pets have already detached from their species’ instinctive characteristics. Can everyone imagine that a pet dog nowadays would bark when seeing strangers in the countryside?

Besides decorative purposes, would today's pet cats catch mice? Perhaps some people would say, why must they catch mice, they are just for viewing. One thing to say here is, raising a pet you like will always add joy to our ordinary life. It won’t reveal your privacy, it quietly listens to your words, it gives you company when you are lonely, yet during happy times, few people remember them. When we are unhappy, we take them out for a walk with us, but when we go to work, travel, or celebrate holidays happily, our pets quietly stay home by themselves. Have you ever thought whether pets also miss their owners at such times and hope their owners come back to keep them company? In life, many people don’t like pets, and many people have various preferences for pets. We often see on TV and newspapers that some people spend tens of thousands to give their dogs a lavish burial.

Of course, there are also quite a few “cat abuse” incidents, with cruel means that are appalling. Whether one likes pets or not is a personal matter, but I always feel that when we raise pets, we have the responsibility and obligation to care for them, because, after all, they are living beings. Precisely because they cannot choose, humans should be more compassionate towards pets rather than casually abandoning them when they are sick, old, and the novelty has worn off. However, some people have deeper feelings for pets than for people. We often hear reports of people treating dogs better than their own parents or children, which I think is excessive.

Media reported that a 79-year-old man who had loved dogs all his life—dogs were everything to him—was gnawed to death by his dogs after he died. This, in fact, is a case of extreme reaction. When affection is excessive and dogs have been long well fed, suddenly losing security, since they are still dogs, they will harbor resentment psychologically. Many things happen for inevitable reasons, and the results are also inevitable, predetermined from the start. We humans, we always transform nature with our wisdom.

To some extent, we even decide the fate of living beings. With such dominance, we should have a rational attitude to respect life, neither overindulging nor maliciously harming. While enjoying the joy and colorful life pets bring, we also hope everyone can give pets their natural living environment and instinctive needs, rather than blindly pampering and providing for them according to human ideas and demands. Food for thought.
