Key Points for Pharaoh Hound's Food Selection
Pharaoh Hound (detailed introduction)

Pharaoh Hound is a relatively ancient dog breed. Due to societal progress, dogs no longer just eat human leftovers as before. With advanced technology, dog food has been developed to be both nutritionally comprehensive and appealing to dogs' taste buds. Therefore, feeding specialized dog food daily is harmless. When purchasing specialized dog food, choices should be made according to the breed and the dog’s different growth stages.
Specialized dog food varies in characteristics and can be divided into types such as harder, medium-hard, softer, etc. Various flavors are also very complete. Classification of specialized dog food:
Hard type specialized dog food: moisture content is below 10%, mostly in solid block form. It contains relatively rich nutrients, is economical, and is the most common type.
Medium-soft specialized dog food: also called semi-cooked dog food, with about 30% moisture content. Because it is soft, it is suitable for puppies and senior dogs.
Soft dog food: moisture content is above 70%, made from meat and fish processed into minced texture, commonly called gourmet specialized dog food, canned and can be stored for long periods.
Among specialized dog foods, there are three types: nutritious complete food used as staple daily food, special-flavored intermittent dog food, and nutritional supplement dog food for sick or pregnant dogs. Selection should be based on specific situations. Before purchasing specialized dog food, carefully read the product instructions. Pay close attention to the product’s intended use, ingredients, content, feeding frequency and amount, feeding method, shelf life, etc.
Dog chewing sticks and teething bones are good items for dogs during the teething period and also help dogs pass the time. However, when selecting dog chewing sticks for Pharaoh Hounds, some issues need attention; otherwise, good items may become harmful.
  1. Pharaoh Hounds with small mouths should not be given too large chewing sticks; they cannot bite them but want to, which stimulates saliva secretion. Choose smaller sizes instead!
  2. Long-haired small Pharaoh Hounds should preferably be given granular bones, which are easy to chew and break.
  3. When unfamiliar dogs visit, be sure to keep the chewing sticks away!
  4. Frequently check the hygiene of dog chewing sticks. Don’t save money by using one for half a year.
  5. Don’t give Pharaoh Hounds too many snacks; developing picky eating habits is not good!
  6. If a Pharaoh Hound is too fat, reduce its food intake and replace it with dog chewing sticks. Keeping the mouth busy avoids hunger while maintaining oral health and shaping a good figure. They are dogs' favorite magical weight loss tools!
