Golden Retrievers are very gentle and adorable dogs. They are extremely loyal and not only can protect their owners but also guard the house. They are also particularly intelligent. Everyone should know about guide dogs, and the breed with the largest number among guide dogs is the Golden Retriever. Usually, guide dogs have very strict requirements. But Golden Retrievers are capable of this work, so they are a particularly easy breed to train. They listen to their owners well; at home, they can help take care of children, and outside, they can help carry groceries or assist in other tasks. Therefore, raising a Golden Retriever at home is an especially good choice. So how should Golden Retrievers be trained to be obedient and well-behaved?

First, you should let them get familiar with the home environment. Since we generally buy Golden Retriever puppies from pet stores, they are very young when brought home. Although dogs are better trained from a young age, if they are too young, it can easily cause resistance. So we should not conduct complex training at first; instead, we can teach them some things during playtime and bonding moments. Simple tricks like reaching out a paw, sitting, lying down, and importantly, letting the dog know where it should eat and where it should go to the bathroom. Once the dog learns these, they will gradually become habits. We should also regularly review these tricks because dogs have small brain capacity, so frequent reinforcement is better.

When training a Golden Retriever, we need to be patient and give clear rewards and punishments. Make them understand what should and shouldn't be done. If the training results are not very good, it is recommended to try the inducement method. During training, place treats or chew sticks that the dog likes nearby, and when the dog performs well, give corresponding rewards. Gradually, the dog will understand that doing this is correct to earn rewards. This method works better when the dog is hungry.

Dogs are our companions and will protect us fearlessly when we are in danger. Since we choose to raise them, we should be responsible for them, not only spending time walking and playing but also training our dogs well. Only then can we be at ease when taking them outside. A dog’s life is not as long as ours, but it will dedicate its entire life to accompany us, so we hope everyone can treat their dogs well.
