Border Collies come from Scotland and have a strong herding instinct. They are very smart and have a strong learning ability. They know how to read expressions and can understand the commands given by their owners. Their intelligence is very high, ranking first among all dogs in the world. Because of these advantages, they have once been the most popular dogs in the pet market. However, many people raise this kind of dog just because they think it is fun, without really understanding them. They don't know how to train them or how to train them to urinate and defecate. Below, I will introduce some tips.

One important point for teaching a Border Collie to urinate and defecate is to take the dog out for walks frequently. You need to take them out multiple times, for example, once every hour. Although this seems very frequent, as long as we follow the schedule and don't miss the times, the dog will form a habit when the time comes each time.

We should feed the dog at fixed times, preferably feeding once in the morning and once in the evening every day, consistently. About thirty minutes after the dog has finished eating, you can take the dog out. This helps to better predict the dog's defecation time and makes training easier.

We also need to learn to judge the dog's defecation time through its behavior. For example, if the dog likes to walk around sniffing as if looking for a place to go to the toilet, and its tail is held in a particularly strange position. Once these behaviors are noticed, we should immediately take the dog outside.

At night or when not at home, we must remember to keep the dog in a crate. Because if we do not do this, they might urinate and defecate anywhere inside the house. We can make a comfortable crate for them at home to prevent them from urinating and defecating inside. But we must remember not to lock the dog in the crate as a punishment, as this will cause them to develop a fear of the crate.
