How to Train a Border Collie’s Courage

Border Collie
Border Collies are known to be pets with relatively small courage. Conversely, Border Collies are the smartest dogs in the world. For these seemingly contradictory yet truly existing facts, how should one train the courage of a Border Collie?
First, training a Border Collie to be courageous should start from a young age. In addition, for dogs that have already developed traces of fear and timidity in their minds, one can cultivate "bravery" and environmental exercises to gradually fade the dog's fearful traces.
Second, since the goal is to improve the dog’s courage, it cannot be rushed. Training should start from environments familiar to the dog, such as at home or places the dog often visits in the neighborhood. Then try to take the dog to some unfamiliar places. Of course, when starting to train, the owner must accompany the dog in unfamiliar places. In such places, the owner should encourage the dog to eliminate its inner fear and help it not to be so scared or nervous.
Third, besides taking the dog to unfamiliar environments, to improve its courage it is best to let it slowly try things it is afraid of. For example, gradually allowing the Border Collie to meet more strangers and other unfamiliar Border Collies; letting it gradually get used to sounds that make it fearful or nervous, such as doorbells and telephone rings.
It should be noted that throughout the training process, the dog must be continuously encouraged to approach the things it fears, allowing it to gradually understand the truth of the matters. Of course, improving a dog's courage is not something that can be accomplished overnight. This training requires persistence and a relatively long period of time, letting the dog gradually adapt to different things, strengthening its cognition, and gradually becoming stronger and braver.
