How to Say No to Your Dog During Training?
When training a pet dog, it is essential to master the methods. During the process, you must be clear and firm with rewards and punishments. When it is time to praise, never be stingy, and when it is time to criticize or say “no,” say it resolutely.
Training a pet dog is about helping the dog develop better living habits so that it can live better with the family. Dogs are very smart and clever animals. After some time of training, they will definitely understand the owner's intentions and slowly develop good habits. However, when training a dog, it is also important to grasp the methods and proper limits.
There are many methods of training dogs, such as guided training and temptation training. For example, you hold a piece of jerky or other treats between your thumb and index finger, show it to the dog, and say: “No!” The dog might lick or nibble the treat, or even use its paws to grab your hand. Keep your hand still; otherwise, the dog will think you are playing with it. Remember to say “No!” only once for each piece of jerky until the dog’s nose stays a certain distance away from your hand, then give it the treat as a reward.
Note that when the owner says no to the dog, the attitude must be firm and not hesitant. Because the owner's determined attitude will let the dog understand that this behavior is absolutely not allowed. Of course, when praising the pet dog, do not be stingy—encourage and give rewards when appropriate.
