How to Prevent Dog Anorexia
How to prevent dog anorexia? 2 simple methods
Dogs eating everything is a problem. But sometimes, a dog's reduced food intake and loss of interest in food is also an issue. So how to prevent dog anorexia?
First, observe if the dog is sick; if sick, treat the illness. If there are no signs like vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or fever, it's relatively easier to manage. Here are two simple methods for your reference:
1. Let your dog go hungry
Many times, dogs don’t eat properly because they have eaten too many treats. If that is the case, you can stop feeding your dog for 24 hours. Provide plenty of water during fasting. Usually, appetite recovers on the 2nd or 3rd day. Additionally, to maintain a robust appetite, you can fast your dog for 0.5 to 1 day every 1 to 2 weeks. This cleans the dog’s digestive system, stimulates appetite, and reduces the occurrence of anorexia.
2. Increase physical exercise, raise the dog’s activity level
Small companion dogs only need more toys at home, such as chew toys and tug ropes, to play and exercise. Usually, teasing them to run and jump satisfies their exercise needs. However, large dogs must exercise outdoors more frequently, especially hounds whose ancestors hunted for a living and are accustomed to intense activity, running at least 5-10 kilometers daily.

Walking your dog is a good method; running with your dog exercises both the dog and yourself; the dog’s appetite improves, and your weight reduces, achieving two benefits at once!
