1. Food Must Be Fresh

6. Feeding Precautions for Pugs

  1.During the developmental stage, provide sufficient proteins, fats, carbohydrates, minerals, and vitamins. Cooked eggs are the best protein source for Pugs. Milk should be specially formulated dog milk as ordinary human milk is likely to cause diarrhea and vomiting in puppies. How to feed a Pug?

  2.Salt content in food should be controlled carefully, never too salty (about1.4%), otherwise it can cause hair loss and burden organs. Dogs are very sensitive to sodium (Na); 3.7 grams of salt (NaCl) per kilogram of body weight can be lethal!

  3.Human seasonings and spicy foods such as onions, chili peppers, and chocolate must not be given to dogs as they cannot metabolize theobromine and caffeine, leading to poisoning: symptoms include rapid heartbeat, extreme excitement, seizures, elevated body temperature, etc. Severe cases impact the central nervous system, causing heart failure and death.

4.Avoid vigorous exercise before and after meals as it may affect digestion.
