Families Raising Dogs Need to Secure Electrical Cords
West Highland White Terrier

Actually, dogs' curiosity is no less than cats’. When they see electrical cords scattered on the floor, they will also treat them as toys. Chewing on cords feels very good for their teeth. If you don’t pay attention to training, you might soon have a destroyed plug. If the cord is still plugged into a socket, there is a risk of electric shock to your dog. Therefore, families raising dogs must be very careful to secure all electrical cords at home.
  1. Naughty puppies or teething dogs might chew on electrical cords
When dogs are bored, they love to find something to chew on, which is also the purpose of dog chew toys. The rubber coating on electrical cords makes dogs think it's something to chew. Also, dogs that are teething tend to look for things to bite themselves. The risk of dogs biting through electric cords is obvious.
   2. Electrical plugs taste good to dogs when chewed
Electric cords are already tempting for dogs to chew, but plugs on the wall or power strips are bigger and more attractive to dogs with larger mouths, even more so than the cords.
   3. Small appliances placed on the floor can seem like toys to dogs
Small appliances like mosquito repellent devices or phone chargers placed where dogs can reach are not only a safety risk for the dog, but also the appliances themselves are at risk. Beware that dogs might chew them to pieces, and when you come home, you could only see fragments.
   4. Power strips left on the floor are easily urinated on by dogs, causing short circuits
Another situation some families might have encountered is power strips left on the floor getting urinated on by dogs. You might notice the plastic of the power strip and the plugs warming up and emitting a plastic smell due to heat. Without proper training to pee in a designated spot, dogs are very likely to urinate on power strips, causing short circuits. Nowadays, almost all homes have short circuit protection, so when you come home you might be puzzled why the power is out but can’t find the reason.
