Do House Dogs Not Need Vaccinations

Poodle (Detailed Introduction)
Some owners think that since their dogs are always kept at home and rarely taken outside, they should not get infected by germs and thus do not need vaccination or deworming medication. However, this idea is incorrect. Even if a pet dog rarely goes out, it does not live in a sterile environment. For example, when the dog breathes, dust in the air containing pathogenic microorganisms can enter the dog's respiratory system and potentially cause respiratory diseases.
Many dogs love to lick their owner’s shoes, clothing, even the floor and furniture, but these items cannot be guaranteed to be free of bacterial pathogens. This could lead to gastrointestinal diseases in dogs. If dirty substances enter the gastrointestinal tract, dogs can also easily get parasite infections. Some types of canine parasites can even transmit to the owner. Moreover, even if the indoor environment is particularly clean and the dog eats no raw or cold food, parasite infections may still occur.
Incidentally, dogs actually need plenty of exercise and sunshine. Therefore, owners should try to take their dogs to places where they can be active. Proper exercise can improve the dog’s resistance. Keeping dogs confined at home can actually make them more prone to illness.
