Care for Some Diseases of Shiba Inu

Shiba Inu (Detailed Introduction)
No one can guarantee that the care for their dog is completely correct, so it is normal for dogs to occasionally feel unwell. However, what deserves our attention is that their nursing must be correct, otherwise incorrect care methods could worsen the dog's condition. Therefore, let’s learn about the care for some diseases of Shiba Inu.
1. When vomiting: If there are no abnormal phenomena before and after vomiting, especially if the Shiba Inu eats the vomit afterward, it is not serious. If vomiting occurs several times in one day, and the dog tries to drink water after vomiting but then vomits the water, and this repeats, it becomes serious. Note that only enough water to moisten the mouth should be given; many owners mistakenly give too much water, which worsens the symptoms.
2. When having diarrhea: If the diarrhea is not severe and appetite is poor, try to provide its favorite foods. Absolutely avoid foods that are difficult to digest. If diarrhea occurs many times in one day, it is best not to give any food the whole day to allow the condition to improve. After fasting, feed small amounts of liquid food like porridge or soup several times, then gradually move from filtered porridge to softened dog food, and finally back to regular food.
3. When having nasal discharge or eye mucus: Some diseases cause nasal discharge, especially colds. At this time, use cotton wool or a cotton swab to wipe. After cleaning, to prevent the nose from drying and cracking, apply olive oil. When there is eye mucus, use 2% boric acid solution on cotton to wipe, then apply non-irritating eye drops.
4. When coughing: Coughing is a defensive action to expel secretions or foreign objects from the trachea. Without phlegm it is a dry cough, with phlegm it is a wet cough. Coughing mostly occurs during eating, exercise, or barking. Dogs with various respiratory diseases or heart disease tend to cough easily. Excessive coughing may cause phlegm and stomach contents to be vomited. Care involves keeping the Shiba Inu calm and resting.
5. Skin diseases: Shiba Inu are susceptible to bacterial infections causing skin diseases, especially in summer. Also, scratching worsens the condition, and topical medications may be licked off by the dog causing poisoning. Therefore, prevent the dog from licking the medication. At this time, an Elizabethan collar can be used to prevent it from biting or scratching itchy areas.
We should properly address various symptoms in the dog, avoid blind treatment, find the correct methods, or seek veterinary help to prevent worsening caused by nursing mistakes.
