Can You Accept the Disadvantages of Labradors?
Can you accept the disadvantages of Labradors? Labradors are large dogs that look quite similar to Golden Retrievers. In terms of temperament, they may even be better than Goldens, and their fur is shorter and easier to maintain. However, raising a Labrador also comes with many drawbacks. After seeing these disadvantages, do you still want to raise one?
1.Labradors Are Not Clean
Can you accept the disadvantages of Labradors? If you have mysophobia, you won't like Labradors. They dig holes, run in the mud, and bite at things. They rub whatever you just brought inside against your pristine walls. Sometimes when they're happy, they help clean off items on the coffee table by wagging their tail, causing a mess!
2.Labradors Shed Heavily
Can you accept the disadvantages of Labradors? All dogs shed to varying degrees. Female Labradors shed heavily twice a year during their heat cycle. Males and spayed females still shed moderately throughout the year along with seasonal changes. These hairs stick to furniture and clothing, then tumble across your floors like tumbleweeds in the wind.
3.Labradors Obey Late
Most dogs calm down when they become adults. But with Labradors, even at1 year old, their mental age is still immature. Some Labradors don’t start to mature in personality until almost2 years old.
4.Labradors Are Especially Generous
Labradors are famously everyone's favorite. Their best friend is usually the person who holds food or toys, sometimes seeming closer than their actual owner.
5.Labradors Require High Exercise Levels
Can you accept the disadvantages of Labradors? Labradors are naturally energetic and require at least two sessions of more than half an hour exercise daily. Sometimes they are actually tired but still full of energy because they want to play. A bored Labrador left alone at home might direct their energy toward the house, damaging slippers, furniture, and trash bins.
6.Labradors Are Not Good Guard Dogs
Can you accept the disadvantages of Labradors? Although Labradors perform excellently in many activities, they are among the top three non-aggressive breeds. They are definitely not ideal guard dogs. When encountering burglars or trespassers, they are more likely to bring their favorite toy to them rather than scare bad people away. Labradors are just too kind and affectionate.
7.Labradors Are Very Greedy
This behavior happens when the owner is eating; the Labrador slowly walks to your side, wagging its tail and begging, looking at you with big, innocent eyes full of water, drooling with desire.
Can you accept the disadvantages of Labradors? After knowing these disadvantages, do you still like Labradors? Do you still want to continue raising one? If you do, then you really love them!
