Can Pomeranians Be Frozen to Death? It Actually Is Possible
Dogs are mammals, and their body temperature is constant just like humans, but many people have certain misunderstandings about dogs' cold resistance because most think dogs have thick fur, so can they really be frozen to death? Actually, they can, and we take the Pomeranian as an example.
The Pomeranian is a very cute small dog originally from Germany. Actually, we can tell from its appearance that the Pomeranian's fur is quite dense, but despite such thick fur, it is still very sensitive to the cold. Although the Pomeranian's fur looks thick, it has very little subcutaneous fat, which leads to its body heat not being well retained and quickly lost. This is why Pomeranians are afraid of the cold.

For example, when the weather is cold, we may see Pomeranians curling their bodies into a ball or hiding in a small corner, not as lively as usual. This is because Pomeranians are really afraid of the cold, especially their small paws which are more sensitive to cold compared to other parts of the body. Families that raise Pomeranians must provide a warm and comfortable living environment. The indoor temperature doesn't need to be very high, but it cannot be too low either. The Pomeranian’s thick fur can keep it warm, only the paws get cold easily. So when we take Pomeranians out to play in winter, we must thoughtfully put clothes and shoes on them to keep them warm.

If Pomeranians are not properly kept warm in winter, they can easily catch a cold. In fact, not only in cold weather, Pomeranians can catch a cold if they are not cared for properly in daily life. For example, if they are not dried properly after a bath or if the indoor air conditioning is set too low, these conditions can also cause Pomeranians to catch a cold.

Since choosing a dog means being responsible for everything about it, we must pay more attention to a dog’s behavior and habits in daily activities and also learn more about dogs’ characteristics to better take care of them.
