Are Poodles All Curly? Actually, the Situation Is Like This
Nowadays, many people around keep a pet, and the poodle is truly a curly-haired noble dog. In the Middle Ages, poodles were specially bred by aristocrats due to their appearance, temperament, and other reasons. Hence the name "poodle". Because of their small size and high intelligence, aristocrats particularly liked this breed and often treated them as family members. Today, this breed is loved worldwide. So, what kinds of this breed are there?

The toy poodle is the most common poodle we see; their size is between the teacup poodle and the standard poodle, with a shoulder height of about 24-28 cm and a weight around 3 kg. Compared with the teacup poodle, their body is much healthier and not as fragile. Moreover, toy poodles are lively and smart, making them very suitable as companion dogs.

Poodles have oval small eyes, while Bichons have round large eyes. One is fat, one is thin; one is long, one is short. Regarding appearance, the toy poodle's legs are longer, and its height and body length are equal, appearing square from the side. Poodles have straight tails, sparser hair, and lighter bone structure, giving a more bony look. Additionally, poodles' hair colors include red, brown, black, white, gray, and the fur is curly and coarse. The toy poodle's name comes from the German word "Pudelhund." Because this breed originally comes from Germany, and due to cold climate, genetics, and other reasons, those types of poodles are curly-haired dogs.

There is no such thing as a poodle that is not curly; if a poodle is not curly, it is probably not a purebred poodle. Currently, poodles are loved by many customers at major pet stores. If you buy a standard poodle, you must regularly groom and comb the dog. Because poodles are curly-haired dogs, their fur easily tangles. Besides frequent combing, the owner also needs to regularly trim the dog's fur. For curly-haired dogs, tangled mats often appear, which is why many people shave their poodles' hair completely.
